India Scarlet India Scarlet

Since childhood India has been taking photos. After enrolling in a photography class in middle school, she discovered her love for film photography and has been developing her own film ever since. She has also gone on to expand her medium and subjects, taking photo classes throughout high school and alongside her studies in college.

India’s photographic work and portfolio are diverse; series include commissioned artist portraits, fashion editorial, and documentations of family and friends. Yet themes of femininity, performance and nostalgia appear throughout her work.

India is currently a sophomore at Barnard College of Columbia University studying Art History, American Studies and Architecture. Alongside her coursework, India takes photography classes at the International Center for Photography and contributes to various on-campus publications and art spaces: Ratrock Magazine, the Journal of Art Criticism, WBAR radio and the Columbia University Photo Society.

India has been a writer and photographer for Ratrock Magazine since the Fall of 2017. She became the Content Editor in the Fall of 2018 and continues to contribute regularly as a photographer. India also serves as the Events Coordinator for the Journal of Art Criticism, a contributor to WBAR radio and on the board of the Columbia University Photo Society.
